E461 also known as Methyl Cellulose is a food additive used in the food industry as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier to improve texture, increase viscosity and stabilize emulsions. It is commonly found in baked goods, dairy products, sauces, cocktails and plant meat products.

Mix the Methyl Cellulose with ice cold water in a blender to form a slurry. Once it thickens, use in your recipe.

Methylcellulose is a versatile ingredient used in cocktails to create a silky, frothy foam. It is a vegan and can be used to substitute for egg whites in cocktails. Here’s how to use it:

Mixing: Combine 3g of methylcellulose, 0.3g of xanthan gum, and 20g of arabic gum. Heat the mixture until it reaches a gentle simmer, then add cold water to fully hydrate the methylcellulose.

Foaming: Use a magnetic stirrer to mix the methylcellulose with the xanthan gum and arabic gum until the mixture reaches the desired texture and consistency.
